LIME

   Lime and Limestone are much-abused terms, often users and even some sellers, refer to some form of Limestone as Lime and vice versa.

LIME STONE :  CaCO3  It is a general term embracing carbonate rocks or fossils; it is composed primarily of Calcium Carbonate or combination of Calcium and Magnesium Carbonate with varying amounts of impurities.

LIME :  Lime is a general term that connotes only a burnt form of Lime, usually Quick Lime, but may also refer to Hydrated Lime. It does not apply to Limestone or any carbonate form of Lime.

QUICK LIME : CaO Quick Lime is a lime oxide formed by calcining Limestone so that carbon di-oxide is liberated.

HYDRATED LIME : Ca(OH)2 Hydrated Lime is a dry powder obtained by hydrating Quick Lime with enough water to satisfy its chemical affinity, forming a hydroxide due to its chemically combined water.

Fe2O3 : 0.01%

CaO :  54.20%

MgO : 1.55%

CaCO3 : 97.10%
